Author of four historical novels, one contemporary romance, and four non-fiction books (three are forthcoming). Winner of more than 40 awards, including four Book of the Year designations. She is represented by Amy Collins of Talcott Notch Literary.
Nicole was named Missouri’s Top Independent Author by Library Journal and Biblioboard as the winner of the Missouri Indie Author Project in 2018 and has been awarded the North Street Book Prize and the Sarton Women’s Book Award. One of her books, Madame Presidentess was previously optioned for film.
Her fiction tells the stories of strong women from history and today, with a focus on biographical historical fiction, while her non-fiction focuses on women’s history. Both share the stories of unknown or little-known figures.
Nicole’s writing has appeared in The Huffington Post, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Independent Journal, Curve Magazine and numerous historical publications. She is one of only six authors who completed a week-long writing intensive taught by #1 New York Times bestselling author Deborah Harkness.
Nicole is an accomplished speaker, having presented at international, national and regional writing conferences - including the Historical Novel Society North American Conference, Symposium on Medieval and Renaissance Studies, Missouri Conference on History, Missouri Writer’s Guild Conference and Chanticleer Author’s Conference – both on panels and teaching solo. She’s also spoken to groups ranging from academics to writers and high school students on topics including historical women, writing fiction and non-fiction, and the business of self-publishing.
Nicole also has 20 years of experience as a marketing and communications expert.
